Layout- USE I have used the same layout column style for my magazine as KERRANG! magazine always uses, I copied this because I think it gives my magazine a very professional look.
I do like also how the artists name is right next to a quote from the story, I think this is good as I think it works as a teaser so they feel the urge to read this magazine. I also Copied the image position and what it is like just because i think it gives it a very powerful look. DEVELOP things i have changed and i believe i have improved are the layout and the actual text font. I think the layout is better because i feel it looks slightly more organized which i think does make my magazine easier on the eyes. I think the text/font is better because i believe i have made certain places alot more interesting like the word FADE seems slightly more interesting than the HIM and i think it does suite the magazine more. CHALLENGE my main challenge is mainly my masthead and the position of it and my tag line, i am unsure which one i do prefer but i do like the pattern in the background of my masthead as i think its very rocky because its ragged and unorganized and it does challenge the normal conventions of a music magazine.
Colour- USE i have followed the three colour rule like a bad habit i believe following it was vitally important for the magazine conventions. DEVELOP something i have developed on the colour side of things are what three colours i used, i used the black and white very commonly seen in rock style magazines. But after seeing the "free posters" and the little "10" in a shape i thought red was very very effective for my type of magazine, i also know red is the most powerful colour for selling.
Photographs- USE both photos on the covers are close up shots of the face, I think this is very effective because it is effective in showing the artists facial expression and emotion, you also see the hood on the clothing so it does relate back to the pictures on the double page spread. the background to the image has been deleted which matches my magazine type very plain and easy to look at.
DEVELOP kerrang has put make up and payed close attention to the eye of the model, where i wanted just to portray the look of someone slightly out of it to the audience. CHALLENGE usually the picture of the artist is cut off by the masthead i wanted it to be the key focus so i haven't let it be covered by the masthead.
Fonts and Font sizes- USE i have copied the font size of the small magazine when it says 'HIM' i wrote 'FADE' but other than that i mainly developed the fonts and font sizes. DEVELOP i have always believed the fonts were very boring and similar to one another in kerrang I changed this for my magazine i believe the colours and fonts i have used the magazine now looks alot better and more interesting.

Layout- USE both mine and kerrang have positioned the text underneath a bigger picture on top to draw the eye to the page. Also the masthead/title 'CONTENTS' layout is the same with issue number and date underneath it, This seems really quite common in these genre of magazine so i fell down to convention and used it for the organiztion aspect.
DEVELOP however in the text i have used less comments and less pictures mainly so the contents page looks more organized and easier to read. I also made where it says KERRANG! this week on mine (DTM this week) alot smaller so it isnt the most eye catching thing on the page.
Colour- DEVELOP where kerrang magazine have gone for a classical black yellow white combination i thought id change and adapt it slightly to fit in with my front cover and tie them together so i used red black and white, these colours symbolise more to me and i imagine more to the audience. Yellow is known to be the most agressive selling colour where red is supposed to be most appealing so going for red i believe i will have a bigger target audience.
Photographs- USE the position of the photos on the page has followed the conventions of the kerrang magazine although i havent used as many.
DEVELOP i have developed my magazine because i use less pictures i feel my magazine looks more organized because of it.
CHALLENGE to challenge the conventions of the music magazine i used to base my page upon i have used a female instead of a male on the top of my page but also i change the colour to black and white although i realise this makes my page less eye catching i believe it gives the simple bedroom background a more intense mise on sense.

Layout- USE both my magazine and kerrang have positioned a photograph on the left hand side of the page as a main focus for the audience, i did this to attract attention to the artist if the reader recognises or likes the picture of the artist they are more likely to read the page. I also structured the columns the same as i believe it gives it a proffessional look.
CHALLENGE to challenge the conventions of a music magazine i have changed the background from the normal boring white to a black colour and the writeing to white to draw the readers eye, although some of my writing is in red to help the reader differenciate.
Colour- USE although me and kerrang magazine both used the same colours red black and white. DEVELOP where me and kerrang magazine differenciate is the fact that the way we use our colours i believe theres is very reader freindly and is supposed to just let the reader gorm out where mine is sorted and organised so they pay attention to the words written and it catches there eye.
Photographs- CHALLENGE to challenge the conventions of a music magazines i have used a picture of an individual artist where the norm for music magazines is to have a bad juping round or messing about. DEVELOP i think i have developed the pictures by making sure every picture tells a little bit of the story that ive written about. USE both artists images are male which is a normal convention for rock magazines.
